Default Headlamp Shield

It looks like there was an early 69 and a late 69 headlamp shield. Would anyone know the serial number cutoff early versus late? Thanks.

Hi j,
The TIM/JG indicates the shield Service Bulletin was dated May 6, 1969.
The last vin in April was 21315, a UAW strike occured in May, last vin in June was 23374.
Sometimes the bulletin date has little to do with when the change on the production line occured. So??? If your car is MUCH earlier, or MUCH later, you can make a guess.
I can't help beyond that.
Regards,
Alan

Hey Alan,
Thank you very much for researching this and for your answer. I'll check the numbers and make my best guess. Good thing is it's one or the other. If I order the wrong one I'll just send it back.

Bizzoco says early has been confirmed on #10316; late by #35250, but lists no date for the running change.

The 69 AIM shows a part number change dated 12/15/68 (UPC 12 A3) which corrects the old 68 part numbers. My guess is remaining stocks of the 68 shields were used on 69s until they were gone, possibly into December, 1968.

It's also possible 69 shields were already in use on the assembly line by the time the part numbers were corrected in the AIM.

My research tells me (if I'm correct) that number 28,335 (my car) was built between August and September (doesn't seem right though as I thought production on 69's would have ended sooner) so I'm thinking I have the late shields.

1969's were produced September of 1968 through December of '69---longest production run ever, and most Vettes built for any particular year until 1976.

If you want an original set of late '69 headlight shields, I have a set in very good condition including the correct fasteners for $75.00 shipped.

Should be early September actually. Does your trim tag have the characters N02 or N03 in the upper right hand corner?

Thanks for all the very helpful info guys and George, thank you for your offer. Not too concerned with originality here though and will order aftermarket.

Hi George... I sent you an email. Would you still have the headlight shields available for sale?
