I don't think that that is the original cut pile. What does your trim tag say? Basic interior in 72, I think, was 80/20 loop and deluxe was cut pile. That looks too fluffy for the stock carpet.

Hi AU,
I agree that the carpet in your picture looks a bit too shaggy to be the cut pile carpet.
The cut pile was soft, but was cut to be quite level, not shaggy.

That is either very old, worn cut-pile carpeting or someone way-back-when installed short **** carpeting. Maybe that car was once owned by Huggy Bear...
I'll guess bathroom mat, like just outside the bathtub/shower. Sometimes sold as a complete set that includes a U shapes piece for around the toilet and a cover for the tank.
I'm sure one of my cars had that used for fuzzy head-rest covers. Looks the same.

Gives you an idea of what came on the car from the factory - - you can verify it with the code on your trim/paint place in the hinge of the driver's door.
when i had the carpet out over easter to put insulation under, i didnt see any tags
its cut in all the right places, has a heel pad, dipper pad and fits neatly in the cargo area over the wheel arches etc.
must have been there for a long while as it has faded in certain places
if i was to change later on, which is better 80/20 loop or cut pile?
it's no biggie that it has/may of been changed,
just curious as i havent seen any other down here with the same fluffiness
yes it's comfy on the bare feet, but it's a bitch to keep clean.....
