ended up with changing the oil in the 82 as per my other thread. I know there have been numerous topics on which oil to use. I found that Castrol Edge Syn makes a 5w-50 for classic cars and on the back of the container states that it has increased zinc levels in this blend. I know that there are also a number of oils out there and their zinc levels stated as to how many ppm's of zinc are included, I do not know what the levels are for this oil. but the price was right as it was on sale at one of the auto stores (5 qts) w/filter for $34 plus tax. not a bad deal, in fact went and bought another bundle for my next oil change in 6 months. also cant' tell what pressure I am getting from this oil, as the dash and gauges are still out of the car.
just an oil thought for the day..........
High Zinc Oils are great for flat tappet (SP) motors.
You need to be aware that if you are burning any oil it
(Zinc) can harm your Cat Converter.
I use the Castrol in my 1971 SB..good oil IMHO.

are you talking about the price? that sale brought down the cost to under $6 a quart for syn oil, when most of that type of oil is going for $9.95 a quart or higher. not that much more than what you can buy @ Wallyworld for Mobil 1. and I get 10 to 11k miles between changes. I still think it was a good deal...
