Could a previous owner have replaced it with a different tranny? Before you buy parts, you should look under the car at the oil pan. The shape of the oil pan will determine the tranny model.
If its original, it is a th350c. C is for converter locking. 1980 is the first year for this trans in the corvette. My trans works perfect and it locks at 30 mph with light throttle. It unlocks with low vacume, or heavy throttle, and when the brake is applied. I love the way mine operates.I think it takes the same filter as earlier models
Hey Hardlanding, At 55-60 mph when lightly lifting off the throttle your rpm will not drop much, if your converter is locked. It feels just like an old 4 speed in top gear. If however your converter is not locking properly, your rpm will drop about 200.
