The dash has weathered on my '75 but not to the point where I want to spend the money to replace it. Lots of suppliers sell a molded cover with speaker holes that glues to the existing dash. Anyone used one of these? Do they look flakey? Fit OK? Make the dash look too oversize?
Thanks for the help.
Others may have a different opinion and the installer may play a part in the finished product, but I've seen 4 or 5 of these that looked like they were well done and I really thought they looked pretty bad. I don't think I would do it in my car.
stumpshot , I have one in my garage now that I did not install. When you look at the dash pad look at the gap where the door panel joins the dash pad, that gap is not big enough for the cap to fit in...... well not on my car. I would save your cash and get a new pad it will be worth it in the end. Hope this helps.
Take your current pad to an upholstry shop and get an estimate on covering it with vinyl.I have a friend that actually did it himself and it turned out nice.
Thanks to all for the replies.
I figured the caps wouldn't work out but I've never seen one. I'm no stranger to pulling the dash off this thing so putting in a new one is not a problem.
Thanks again
