I don't remember the model but I bought them from summit. They're an inexpensive cast aluminum wheel I bought for my 69 Chevelle and stuck them on the vette just to see how they look and fit. The offset for the Chevelle fits the vette very well. The backs are 275/40/18 I think the fronts were 245/40/18 I sold the Chevelle with the wheels so I can't go in the garage and check.
It’s just base 350 with M20. It’s numbers matching, so I don’t really want to modify it too much (I have other cars for that).
I did a frame-off… the car was originally War Bonnet Yellow, but the previous owner had added his own special “touch” (see below).
I always wanted a triple black, so I went all in. Put the L88 hood on for the hell of it. When I’m dead and gone, if War Bonnet Yellow has become all the rage… they can slap it back on.
Wow! Beautiful!!! Did you have it painted or did you buy it like that? That’s a nice paint job.
I bought a new 1981 two-tone Silver/Charcoal the year I graduated high school. I’ve owned tons of cars since then, but that will always be my favorite and fondest car memory. I was 18, it was my dream car… I’ll never forget the first time I sat in the driver’s seat and looked over that long hood framed by those big fender humps.
Also, it worked out well… because I became really popular with the ladies around the same time I bought the car… so I had a nice car to drive the ladies on our dates…. hmmm, what a coincidence
Before.............notice the quality job a previous owner did --fiberglassing the deck lid in place (at least he left all the hinges/hardware in place........nice-looking tail light panel--'76 I think......
Today.............
Just in case you are wondering how the front of the car looks....BRACE YOURSELF........
I spit out the beer I was drinking (thru my mouth and nose) when I saw this. Great setup “BRACE YOURSELF”… Brilliant!!!!
Hey there! thanks! This car belonged to my best friend growing up dad. He did have it painted, i noticed in the door because the metal tag that has the interior and paint codes there is covered in black. the car was always black on black though, im not sure if it was a touch up or a full paint job. When I decided I would take the car I flew back to texas and my brother and I did everything we could to make her as roadworthy as possible and I drove her 1400 miles to Los Angeles. It was rough. Main thing is the ac doesnt work yet and I had to have the windows down the whole time. If I hear another 18 wheeler again in my life ill have a nervous breakdown.
I really enjoy the look over the hood too. I always wanted a stingray but I never thought id actually get one. But im all in. its amazing how much money you can dump into something and be happy doing it. Id really like to change out all the suspension to a ride tech full coil over deal. They dont make it in an 81. it looks like i could swap out the back end and then it would work? it would be amazing to modern handling.
Picked this ‘73 up at an auction about a month ago. 10 year frame off restoration. Doesn’t run. 69 z28 DZ in the engine compartment. More on my plans with when I start a thread about the car. Arriving at its new home. Sits up way too high on its new springs. Ride Tech Street Grip arrived over the last two weeks. Likely to install this prior to jerking the engine like a bad tooth. Totally new interior - seats, carpet, mats, door cards. Number one & two intake push rods & rockers off. Number two exhaust never got hot. Guessing wiped cam. Only ran on seven cylinders from the time it was installed - best guess.
Black is the number one color for my 73.
British Racing Green Metallic is number two.
I have to hurry up and decide before it goes to the painter next month.
Black with red interior....absolutely stunning. I really really think that is how my 69 will end up.....I just wish the red in 69 was more the color of this 73.....darker, blood red.
I thought about going to red interior but went to black so I wouldn’t be limited so much in my exterior color choices.
Black with red interior is by far my favorite.

I have been thinking for awhile now about going red on the interior with the 69, but NOT the original bright red. Most of the big interior pieces I have from the project are in good shape...the dashes, door panels, center console....which are black. I love black too and keep going back and forth on the ideas. I could dye all those parts a darker red,....like the 73, or maybe later dark reds used on last few C3's. The challenge then would be dealing with the seats. I would like to keep the original style seats,...with seperate headrests.....SO...maybe Al Knoch would make me covers in the later model darker red??? The carpet is easy. I really think the most stunning look is that deep blood red color with black exterior......the original BRIGHT red is just too bright, and I can't get to the point of liking it. I would prefer black over the bright red.

Is the paint in the gun yet … then take your time, it’s a big decision! Lol

The painter told me he will paint me some panels of any color I want so I can look at them is different lighting to see what I want.
Like you, he said once it’s in the gun it’s the right color.

Black is really hard to keep clean, and shows every imperfection. I imagine it's hardest color to paint. I have to dust and wipe down my car every time I drive it to town for a show or cruise since I live down 1/2 mile gravel drive.
