My 69 steering wheel has quite a bit of the black texture paint rubbed off. It is dark red underneath.
What products and process is recommended to reproduce?
Hi C,
This is a new one for me.
I've always thought the 'grain' could be worn smooth, but not that it changed color.
Aren't they always black vinyl all the way through?
Regards,
Alan
The edges of my oringal 69 steering wheel was worn where the red was showing underneath.
I masked all the aluminum very carefully and sprayed SEM Chip Guard, color black. There was a majority of original texture left so the addition of the new texture around the edges blends well enough.
The black wasn't quite the right color so I sprayed some SEM GM black paint on top.
While I was at it, I repainted the horn button so it matches the steering wheel.
All looks great.
