Default AIM question

I was going through the AIM manual and for example they give an 8 digit number for a bolt or screw. How do I cross reference these numbers in order to get a description of the bolt? ( size-type ect.)
Thanks

There is a 1953-1982 (C1-C3) Parts and Illustration book where the Illustration lists fastener head type, length, diameter, and thread count. These books are often found on ebay.

Basically, you find the part in question via an index or by looking at the relevant illustration page. Then you can cross reference the part number in another section that gives applicable years, etc information.

Hi Nelson,
Map's right.
The book he mentions also has SOME drawings, (for instance suspension), which show the bolt descriptions which can be helpful in identifying a bolt or fastener too.
Regards,
Alan

PS: I met chuck Crew last week and got a chance to take a peek at your 68. NICE!

I could give it a go as well, sitting a GM parts dept. for 8 hours a day and all.

Another question, how many pages does the AIM for the 1980 MY have? I purchased the CD version from a vendor at the Red Deer Super Run, it has copies of the AIM's for '77-'82 on one disc.
The 1980 PDF on the disc totals 600 pages, is this compareable to other examples? Just want to make sure I got a complete copy. The disc was sealed and had the copywrite decal over the closure.

My CD version of the 1980 AIM has 598 pages (Corvette America) - same as my paper copy of the AIM (Ecklers).
