While I don't disagree with you, I think it is more that the newest stuff (C5, C6, and soon to be C7) garners more interest, especially with the newsstand sales, that that is where they concentrate their articles.

A couple of for instances: A.) Hot Rod mag says their newsstand sales go through the roof when they feature a "rat rod" on the cover. B.) A very recent Car & Driver issue features the supposed C7 on the cover and a full article. But all the "photos" are really CG images. All to boost magazine sales.

Think about who buys these magazines: C1, C2, & C3 articles don't have a lot of general interest among the folks who peruse the magazine stands and make decisions to buy based on the cover article. Rat Rods and the latest Corvettes sell magazines.

Yup. I saw this coming several years ago... and let my Corvette subscriptions expire with dignity. But I still get Hot Rod.

I subscribe to VETTE and Corvette Magazine and see this all the time in letters to the editor. Not enough C3s......too many wild modified C5s.......not enough C2s, etc and so forth.

I own a C3, but I'm a Corvette fan of all generations and I'm happy to have real honest-to-God Corvette magazines (ya know paper and ink) that I can take into the bathroom and read.

I think the editors of these magazines work hard to achieve a balance that will satisfy all Corvette fans.

Buy those magazines! If ya'll don't they'll go away and we'll have no Corvette magazines.

I have interest in all generatiomns as well... but the info on C4+ that I personally care about can be had for free using Google. If I'm paying for a rag, then I want something that will directly benefit my need... C2/C3. That's just the way it is. Without the C2/C3 stuff... might as well use Google. I'll let the C4/5/6/7/8/9 guys chip in to keep the mags viable. I once had a subscription to Playboy... and realized... who the hell am I kidding? So I didn't renew that either. Well... my wife didn't appreciate it so much.

I recently let my Vette subscription lapse. When they merged with Corvette Fever, they got rid of the wrong editor. I got tired of needing a thesaurus and a dictionary just to follow one of the pretentious editorials.
I agree too. Where's Alan Covin these days? Hey, I've got a good command of English, but the last thing I want when I kick-back at the end of a long day and go to read my Corvette magazine is a heady editorial consisting of 40 word sentences that I have to strain myself to make sense of. I'm like....what the he!! is this, a Scientific American article??!! A lot of people must have complained because if you notice, he's really toned it down in the last year.

The reason they feature C5/C6's on the cover is because, as outlined by, I think Alan Covin back in the days of Corvette Fever, they simply saw a jump in magazine newstand sales. It was that simple. If you think about it, to some degree the C5/C6 crowd is subsidizing publishing our hobby in the magazines. Therefore I put up with them because it's a necessary evil.

I really like the look, feel and articles of Corvette Magazine. They DO get some C3 articles right I feel. I like the historical perspective they dive into. From a tech standpoint, I actually get more out of High Performance Pontiac. They seem to have interesting articles of the type and depth that I never see in any other magazines.

If you want to read good corvette magazines, buy yourself a stack of them on Ebay from the early to mid 80's when C3s were contemporary. Lot of fun!

I have the very first ones from then up to about 2008. Boxes, boxes, and more boxes. I even have one that they forgot they issued and even they don't have a copy of. I brought it to their attention and they were dumbfounded. So... hey... I guess I have a lot of re-reading to do!

Well, it sounds like I may be the contrairian here. I have an 82 C3 that is my love. This was THE Corvette when I was growing up in the 70's The C3 was the body style that I knew one day would be in my stable. Having said that, and never intending to sell my C3, I will purchase the right C4 (96?) C5 (99?) and C6 (11?) one day. I totally enjoy the articles in Vette. I do not mind that they are focused on the masses. I totally get the marketing aspect of the publication. I come here to enjoy the C3 banter, ideas, and the answers to my questions. I also enjoy the articles on the C5 - turbo that can be mine for a steal, etc. I get it and I will continue to subscribe.

The Feb 2013 issue had two L88 features. It only cost $15 yearly, so for me, that's worth it.

I stopped reading magazines when the internet came about. Better discussion, more facts, less advertisements.

I still subscribe to Corvette magazine, and while it is quite heavy on the C5 & C6 content, there has been a slight increase in C3 & C2 content also. So, for now, I'm going to keep subscribing to it.

The problem I have with most magazines (car, gun, guitar, etc.) is that due to space constraints, they seldom get in depth enough to keep me interested. Most of what is written, I already know. This turns it into an exercise in validation, and a hunt for errors. There's much more useful info elsewhere, like here.

I bet if they brought back the "Vettemate" of the month a lot of unsubscribers would reconsider. That was one of my favorite features in the old days.

Also really liked the Caption Contest (Keepin' Track of Vettes?) where they would show a funny Corvette picture and readers would write in possible captions. Some of the older magazines had crossword puzzles too.
