I agree with Allen, this car is worth 30k, if it was my car that I was selling I would not take less. go out and find a nice car, than completey restore it, you will have twice that amount in it. seems like some people on this forum are always trying to down grade the value of corvettes.

I don't think any vette owner is trying to downgrade the value of corvettes. Whenever I buy anything I will always try to negotiate the best price. If you think this is not right I will contact you when I'm ready to sell mine.

From the pics and description and the options,30k asking price is not out of line for this 72.

as easy mike said, the seller is a professional (if you can call a used car salesman anything other than a four letter word), and is trying to take as much money as possible out of your pocket and put it into his. this car may be "original", but it doesn't mean that it's "perfect".

Just be careful when someone says "fully restored" car. If someone who knows Corvettes is doing the resto, they return it to what it originally was in the beginning to keep the value. The first thing I noticed that was incorrect is the passenger side mirror. My '72 (I'm the 2nd owner for the past 38 years) doesn't have one and never came with one. Maybe have someone who really knows Corvettes look it over for you, even if you have to pay someone.
Good luck!

IMHO, when you buy one of these old cars, you WILL have to spend some $$$ to get and keep it right. If you are looking for a fun ride and if numbers, etc don't matter to you, this one may be a tough decision. If numbers and original components, etc are important to you, and if it IS as nice as you and the article/photos indicate, it looks like a gem. Seems to me your decision is approx $30,000 + a little maintenance money vs <$30,000 + fix up + maintenance money. A clock, re-built to original mechanical operation, is approx $129. Quartz replacements are less.

I believe (again, based on description and photos) that this is a buy @ approx $30,000. Keep in mind I am a "bone stock" enthusiast, so my opinion may be slanted toward this car vs some others'. You sound VERY interested in the car. Think too long and you may regret not negotiating a price that works for both parties for a long, long time. GLWP...

I own a 72 and based on the pics, its in very nice condition.

For 28k miles, not sure why the valve covers are not original. Those would go on an LT-1. Manifold would be silver if LT-1 .. tells me some cosmetic changes were made.

Check trim tag to see if Deluxe interior came with this car (i.e.: wood and leather. May have been a cosmetic upgrade but if it was, they guy did the console too which is often left out of remodels.

The absence of the hard top does deduct some value. Some would say the white color dampens price a little (compared to red or yellow).

No mention of NCRS flight awards so assessment of condition is based on pictures and text.

I don't feel that $27 / $28k is out of the question. It would be hard to find a car with that low mileage in that condition. If it had the hard top and a 2nd flight or top flight, I'd say $30+ I doubt he'll part with that for less than $28.5... but I'd try to get it for less.

Seems like a nice clean 72.

Scott.
