Default Has Bubba Been Here?

Looks like paper towels and household expanding foam from a can. I'm afraid to remove it....can of worms. Ignorance is bliss

What would the thin green wires on the right side be?

Update: Its solid foam. the paper towel was just on the surface. Leave it?

Bubba is everywhere. I took the middle console off of my '79 project car, took a look and the three ground wires on the right side of the transmission hump were snipped off and one of the three on the left side was snipped off. BUT Bubba left them attached to the screws.

Definitely wouldn't leave it......but it's basically a matter of when you want to get into it. For me, that would be any time after Halloween, since that's when I enter winter storage. For you gents in Texas, obviously your storage season, if one exists, would be much different.
It's not affecting driveability, but it's definitely going to be on your "to do" list.

Hope it's not too bad once you get into it.

Hi K,
Maybe someone thought the expanding foam would fill the cavity so well that there wouldn't be any place for water?!?
Regards,
Alan

OK, this doesn't look too bad. The right side had some flaking towards the front and looked slightly bent. The markings on the bolts are clearly legible. There is even some green zinc primer visible.

So an official field tested method to **** off the next owner of your Corvette: 1) remove the covers from the # 3 and 7 body mounts, 2) stuff a rag in the drain, 3) fill with expandable foam from Home Depot being sure to get all 8 corners, 4) bonus points if you overfill and it sets up good and hard, 5) fill any gaps with paper towel and to keep the foam from sticking to the cover (Thanks!), 6) replace cover.

I've just removed everything behind the transmission on the underside that can be, TAs, Diffy, gas tank bumpers, and I got more knuckle dingers removing the foam than everything else.

Whatcha think?

That area looks very solid! I am not sure what the purpose of the foam was??

That stuff is hell to clean out. Looks real good, and doesn't look bad to begin with.
