Default I did it - My first C3

Some of you might have seen my post the other day asking some advice on my first C3 purchase. Was looking at a 1982.

Test drove it yesterday runs great. Took it my mechanic today (he has owned a few Corvettes over the years) put it on the lift and gave it a good go over. He said he has never seen one this clean before. There was no rust to speak of at all very little surface rust on frame but clean all the way around. He took a look at the suspension and all checked out. Took a look at the engine, belts etc... and he was very impressed with how clean everything was. All he kept saying was "I can't find anything wrong".

So the owner and I parted ways and when I got home I made her an offer and she accepted!!!

I will be going to the bank first thing in the morning and making the exchange by 10 am tomorrow.

It needs a paint job, at least the front end as some of you know from my other post but I have a local guy with 30 years experience that took a look at it and gave me a reasonable price to get it right.

Can't wait to get it and can't wait to go to MVA and get my own tags for it (you will understand when you see last picture...)

Congrats! Those are unusual plates, that's for sure. How did the paint get like that? The rest of the car looks good, just curious?!?!

The current owner is an artist and her other car is a hearse. She is really cool just into some stuff that the rest of us might not be...

She said that a while ago on the front right she notice a baseball size bubble forming and she started picking at it and she continued to pick as it flaked more. I am pretty sure that it was repainted before she bought it and it was a not so good paint job. The guy that is going to paint it for me thinks there was a problem with the primer. Only thing is the rest of the paint looks good so not sure what the cause was. We are all guessing...

Congrats.

If the paint is original, it is acrylic enamel with clear coat. That should not give your painter any headaches.

I really like 82's....my first corvette was an 82 and it was a great cruiser.

Good luck with your new ride.

Thank You for the welcomes.

I got the car this morning and was very suprised when she brought it to me. I got the car pictured above (no suprise there...) but in addition she had the complete 1982 Corvette Shop Manual, complete 1982 Covette Assembly Manual, original 1982 Covette Spec sheet with pricing, a complete set of replacement carpets, 4 new center hubs with Corvette logo for rims and a set of never put on the car
M1131 Glass tops still in sealed plastic and "leather" protective bags.

I really was not expecting all that.

Drove it to MVA to get my tags, then took the long way home. Then took it to my son's away soccer game later in the afternoon. I amreally loving driving this car. Sorry but my Harley is just gonna have to understand...

That's pretty cool, I try to package extras I have like that and pass them on when I sell a car or other vehicle.
