Floor mats were available as a "dealer installed option", from 68-76. According to Chevrolet sales literature, clear vinyl mats were offered for 68-72 Corvettes, and black rubber mats were offered on 73-76's. I believe that the black rubber mats were probably available from 68-72 or 70-72, also. For 1977, color keyed carpeted mats were available for the first time, as a factory installed option. In 78 & 79, the carpeted mats were again offered, but only as part of the Convenience Group (RPO ZX2). The Convenience Group also included: dome lamp delay, low fuel warning, underhood lamp, headlamp on warning, passenger side remote mirror and intermittent wipers.
The Convenience Group was made part of the standard equipment in 1980, so all 80-82 Corvettes came with carpeted mats.
