Gosh! I don't really know. I don't carry a magnet around with me to check out that particular issue when I go to car shows.

Hi,
Nice smooth lines but rather odd proportions to my eye.
But still a pretty car.
Regards,
Alan

I don't want to be too negative on what I think about the car so all I will say is I think Alan was being very polite.
So as not to get too far off of what the OP asked I have never seen a steel body Corvette and I don't want to.

Looks like a cross between a C2 and a Citroen.
Unique! But, it just looks like any other 60's/70's European sports car.

reminiscent of the Starlight?
It also has the lines/style reminiscent of the mid-fifties Studebaker Starlight.

I seem to recall reading about a steel Corvette at some point, but I have never seen any photos of it. Odd looking.
I will say, the body lines held up better then fiberglass does lol

Technically there is a steel bodied corvette(C5). Its a Cadillac XLR, almost everything is the same except the body of the car.

Interestingly, Zora Arkus-Duntov, the first Corvette chief engineer, was a fan of the car and was once quoted as saying: “For the first time I now have a Corvette I can be proud to drive in Europe.”
Really?

I think Pininfarina and some other body manufacturers built some other show car corvettes before the Rondine. in the 50s

Kinda reminds me of a Corvair.
I'm not too sure what to think of it to be honest.
Definitely interesting

Well, there was a period in which GM was really "hot" on Pininfarina car designs. I think there were a couple of US cars that were styled by that design group. (One of the Cadillac body styles and a Buick body, I think.) But, the Italian "thing" never really sold well in the US.

The author honestly does not know what he's writing about. The car in the article is not a Corvette. It's a styling exercise using Corvette parts. It is also not new and shows up in several of the Corvette history coffee table books.
While it might make for good reading, I would be wary of the author attributing the quote to Zora Arkus-Duntov.

Cadillac Allante bodies were built in Italy and shipped here for final assembly. I believe the Buick was called the Reatta.

I liked it. I've seen a few other Italian one offs built at various car museums. Of course I prefer the split window.

Actually, yes
Saw that car when it was at Kevin McKay's shop in Valley Stream
IIRC he was prepping it for sale at the auction mentioned in the article
Interesting, but not for me

It looks just like a ferrarri 330 2+2 which the article states was designed by the same person.

my first thought upon seeing this:
"I never saw a purple cow.
I never hope to see one.
But I can tell you anyhow I'd rather see than own one."
