Hi AS,
The trim tag has 3 pieces of information... build date, exterior color, interior color.
The car's VIN sequence will tell you what month the car was built and you can pretty closely figure the week and day from there.
If you take off some of the interior trim around the door area I'll bet you'll be able to see what color the exterior was originally.
If you take some of the interior pieces apart you'll be able to see if they've been dyed; and there will be some date stamped parts so you can see if they agree with the sequence date you came up with.
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan
Thanks Alan, I have kinda figured out it's a late 76 by the VIN sequence # but don't know how to narrow it down any more than that. I'd bet as bad a shape the interior is in that it's all original. I know the car has been repainted (and not very well), but I still think the original color is Orange Flame, maybe when I get into the interior more that assertion will change.
Hi as,
The 76 Corvette Registry does have a few cars listed with vin sequence and build date. You'll probably be able to begin to narrow down your build date with that info.

Alan
