So it turned out to be a perfect day 77 and sunny, what else could you ask for. So after taking the family to the pumpkin patch and corn maze this morning, my 16 year old son and I took the tops off the Corvette and took off for a little cruise this afternoon.
He has been asking me if he could drive it so I pulled over and let him drive the last 5 miles home.
Nice work dad - he must have loved that!! Byproduct of what you did today will now result in you constantly hearing "can I drive the Vette?" Every nice day
My son is 2 and all he wants to do is get in the car all the time, I can't even go out for a quick ride, as soon as I start the car he is crying at the garage door wanting to go. I have to push the car out of the garage and down the driveway to sneak one in once in a while. When I am under the car he is right there too, trying to use the rachet or screw driver. I didnt like when he dumped the 90 weight gear oil out of the container. I can't wait to pass the car on to him, as long as he respects the power.
Great, a 16 year old with a "vette attitude"!
My 8 year old daughter hates the vette and will not ride in it unless I force her to.
She liked the 70 Coronet and the 72 Nova but hates this vette and previous 77 so she is being honest. That is why I would like to sell it.
To the OP - great story. I was a little older then that (20) when I drove my brothers Vette, but that hooked me. Glad you had that father and son time together.
My '81 is the 16 year old daughter's daily driver. She has more pride in it, & takes better care of it than ANYTHING I could have bought her. My biggest initial fears involved her cracking the l-o-n-g fron end on a curb or something, but she has adjusted to that very well, and we are 6 months incident free, so far (knock on wood!).
Of course, my 14 year old son is counting down until the coincident time that big sis goes to college and he gets his license, knowing she will get something else for the long trips to school, and the vette will then be his!
