Default '68-'72 Trunk Space

Apologies if this has been answered before but I couldn't find it via search. I am a newbie and am wondering how big a trunk on a vette from '68-'72 is. Could I fit a set of golf clubs back there? I was able to cram in my golf bag to a '75 vette.

Also, do the convertibles of these years even have a trunk? I have yet to see a picture of a trunk being opened on a 68-72 vert. Let me know, and if you have any pics PLEASE post!

Thanks!

No golf clubs won't fit back there at all. Here is a couple of pictures of my car a few years ago headed to the lake. This should give you a lack of storage idea

You can see my overnight back which is just an average sized roll around bag won't even fit in the "trunk", of course the t-tops are in there too.

Do the T tops fit behind the seats?

Yes, but if those are back there, don't even think about squeezing anything else in.

Exactly. If you look in my picture, I have my jump box wedged in between the seat and the back. Its about eight inches or so thick and I couldn't squeeze it back there.

'75 corvette has the same "trunk" space as a '68 - '72....
there is NO "trunk" that opens on a C3 corvette, all you have is the space behind the seats.
but there is more room behind the seats on a '79 -'82 because of the bubble rear window... also, the '82 Collector Edition has a rear window that opens.

Sorry, I had to. However, that is a real car: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c3-g...ort-wagon.html

To contribute to the original question, everyone above is correct. There's just not much space in a C3, it's just one of the side effects of owning one. As far as I know, Cobra_4 is correct on no convertibles having storage compartments; it is taken up by the top storage compartment.

Hence the popularity of the rear deck luggage rack.
Hence the GM T-Top strap kit for attaching tops externally to rack.
Hence me rolling my smokes up in my shirt sleeve like James Dean
I had more storage on my HD dresser.
For fun factor.......Priceless.
For everyone else there is BMW
Get a coupe and you get a little hiding space behind you.
I carry a small Craftsman tool bag with etc... back there.
That's about it

Not sure what you mean by a "bogus post." If you don't like the question I asked, not sure why you opened the thread.

Thanks for the replies to everyone else, though! Like I said I have seen the '74 and '75 coupe's and even brought my golf bag to check out the space. But there are just no convertibles in my area to view so that's why I was hoping to get some photos on what the storage space on a convertible from '68-'72 looked like.

So basically the space in a convertible is pretty much the same as the space in a coupe from these years?

Hi b,
I guess the use of the word 'trunk' made a few people wonder if you were playing around. Corvettes stopped having 'trunks' in 1962.
The coupes and convertibles have about the same amount of 'rear compartment' space.
The coupe loses much of it if the rear window and roof panels are stored there.
The convertible loses much of it when the top is down. I remember that some owners would take the soft top off the car when they were using the hardtop, in order to gain the space back.
Regards,
Alan

Thanks!
Suggest you pick up a book on the C3 or Google some reading materials to get a good orientation on the C3 (68-82 models)

Good luck

Ah, so my newbie colors were shining from the first few words of my post! haha

When I said "trunk" I just meant the small storage space behind the seats. I wasn't sure if the convertibles from the C3's were akin to the verts on c5's/c6's where there was a little compartment that flipped open.

And Google is just failing me with pictures for the storage space. Not that the storage space is why you get a car like this, was just wondering if it would be a great bonus. And also wanted to see how the chrome bumper years compared with the 74/75 years because I was able to get one bag in that area behind the seats that I don't know the vernacular of.

We once fit 3 guys in the trunk of a 68 when sneaking into a drive in movie. Oh wait, that was a 68 Impala. Never mind.

You wouldn't get a long putter in the back an early C3. I can fit a bag of clubs in my 92 just fine though.

Sooo:

Remove the spare tire carrier, locate the gas tank to that location, have some body work done to create a "trunk lid" and trunk.

No problem....

Ok so I don't have great pics but here are 2 of the back of my vert to give an idea of the space there. The board in the second pic is about 54" and just sits on top of the wheel wells. Golf clubs would need to go in diagonally or with the passenger seat down.
