I have noticed on some C3s that the front fender trim chrome does not line up right. Is this an indication of the body panels being out of alignment, or possibly indication of aftermarket replacement?
In the Stingray Guidebook 1969 (Bizzoco) ther is a pick of a front bumper that shows this on page 160 as well, but not commented on as being abnormal.

Usually not.

Not necessarily. What you see is a bumper guard which needs to be tweaked a bit.
Hi ba,
I believe that the grill trim, and the bumper guard, both have a bit of 'wiggle room' during installation.
I believe the gap on the car shown in your picture is probably not typical of factory production.

I had actually looked at a '69 this weekend and the bumper itself, the piece that runs the width of the car is off center from the crease in the front bumper by about 3/8", and I looked at each end of the bumper and it does need to be moved to the passenger's side by that same 3/8". Is there that much adjustability in mounting the front bumper?
Hi m,
There's actually very little adjustment possible in mounting the bumper itself. That's why you sometimes see a poor bumper fit on cars that have had serious front clip body work. The bumper that will be used, (not just any bumper), must be trial fitted so that the fiberglass can be made to have a good fit with the bumper.
There's actually a bit more adjustment in the bumperettes than the bumper.

Alan
