Fiber optics? Do you mean LED? Fiber optics are cables used by communications companies for voice and data transmissions. They are glass wires surrounded by insulating covering.

It's always great when you can get the fiber optics going on the old c3's. Next, do the wiper doors and wipers work? For you youngsters, I am asking if the vacuum is working properly. They always quit working right after the fiber optics. No, not that vacuum.

I've always wondered why newer vehicles don't use fiber optics for monitoring lamp lights. It's certainly a great idea and way ahead of its time in the mid to late 60s.

Nice job getting the fiber optics to work. To get this moved to the C3 section, just PM a mod with a link to this post and ask that it be moved.

Cool Nice C3, Did you use a repair kit? If you know someone in the communications industry I'm sure they could turn you on to a new repair kit.

If you are looking to purchase more pieces of the cable, do not bother going out and buying fiber optic network cable. That stuff will not work, no light passes through it. Well, none your eyes can detect anyway. That stuff works at a different wavelength.
If you want a super cheap supply of fiber optic cable similar to the stuff GM used 50 years ago, use TOSLink cables. (Optical audio cables). You can pick the stuff up at places like Monoprice or BlueJeans Cable. Comes in various lengths just like you'd expect for your home theater stuff. And it's dirt cheap. Cut em up and you're on your way. I'd recommend not getting the higher quality stuff since that's all bound up inside a mesh exterior and way too much insulation. That's probably 10mm in dia, where the cheaper stuff is more like 3mm. I don't think it's as small as the stuff that came in cars long ago, and its a lot more flexible, but, it's very close to the size.
/edit
I just looked and I guessed wrong. They're 5mm dia. But, they are very cheap. A 50 footer is only $8.30. They are very fair on shipping as well.
