1973 Engine compartment paint
Painting me car and pulled the engine and tranny out. Need to know what did the factory paint the engine compartment with.........did they use flat black enamel or gloss enamel? What would the majority of you all use? Gloss or flat? enamel or ?????. Thanks all

Originally the engine compartment 'blackout' was done with semi-flat black paint.
I think the semi-flat is still a good choice because it's much easier to keep clean and maintain than flat paint would be; it also hides the imperfections in the fiberglass much better than gloss paint would.
