The AIM shows the passenger's side installation, but not the left. That usually means the other side (not shown) installs the same way.
The trim screw goes in a hole in the door hinge post near the vent opening.

Mikes right.
The screw was tapped into a hole in the hinge pillar just to the rear of the flange that forms the edge of the vent opening.
In this picture (passenger's side) it would be right near the 'tab' that's part of the firewall blanket. Search that area of the driver's side pillar.
It's hard to get your head in there to see it, but you can search for it with your finger which will give you an idea how to direct the screw as it comes through the kick panel so the screw catches the hole.
