Default Rally rings

Does anybody know if original rally rings from early 70's are made of stainless or chrome?
If stainless, I should be able to polish minor scratches.

Thanks

Hi pp,
I believe the rings used in production from 68 until at least 72 were made from stainless steel with flash chrome plating.
Flash chrome is just a layer of chrome plating rather than the more common chrome plating (bumpers) which was done with a layer of copper, then nickel, and finally chrome.
Regards,
Alan

Thanks.
If they had a layer of chrome, minor scratches can't be polished.
