Now that i have the engine out of the car. I notice that all the linkage has rubber bushings that are dry looking. What name are theses called and where can i buy replacements?
The suspension system has rubber bushings in it. I am unaware of any rubber bushings in the steering system....other than the 'shock' snubbers where the power steering cylinder rod is attached to the frame.

If so, those are "dust boots" that are meant to keep the grease IN and the dirt/dust/water OUT of the [metal] steering joints. If you feel the need, you can buy new dust boots; but you have to disassemble the links to get the new dust boots installed. Might as well just replace the joint, if you go to that much trouble.
Oh...if those steering joints were to be greased/lubed at regular intervals, those dust boots might not look so "dry". Just sayin'....

Post a pic of what you've found. The idler arm has bushings. Pretty much everything else you might be looking at in the steering linkage is a dust cover.
