Default re-chrome question

Ok, I've tried to search for this and find everything except what I'm looking for and I'm sure one of you can point me in the right direction. Want to re-chrome front and rear bumpers and a few other parts on 71 convertible. Any suggestions as to who to use? I'm in the southeast; anyone in this direction by chance?

Not sure who is in your area, just wanted to point out...do not do a bumper exchange. You may end up with a set of re-production ones. jus sayin'

Here's four threads from the past year... You'll need to google the companies to get more info... (used advanced search and looked for "chrome" in the subject line)...

I've used Ogden Plating with tremendous results:

http://www.ogdenchrome.com

They pay to have your items shipped to them... They look at them and then give you an estimate... If you don't like the estimate, they ship your parts back... All your are out is the time the parts are gone...

Hi af,
I used Librandi's Plating in Middletown Pa., near Harrisburg.
They do very good work at a reasonable price.
Be careful of someone who will give you more than just 'ballpark price' until they've seen your parts in person. Also, some people imply they're doing the plating but just act as a middleman for a plating shop.
Regards,
Alan

Highland Plating in Los Angeles is by far the best I have used. When I owned a custom wheel shop, they did a lot of the chrome plating from the wheel manufacturers I purchased from. They have done everything from wheels, hot rod parts, motorcycle rims, bumpers, and non-auto related items.

Saint Louis plating is also good and cheaper.

Thanks everyone. Very helpful. I have already decided I would not do an exchange so looking for a good, trusting and reasonable company was my goal. That is if there is really such a thing as "reasonable" when it comes to plating.

Looks like Virginia Vettes has somebody that does a nice job. A search of them will turn up some very satisfied customers.

Dick from VA Vettes has always gotten right back to me when i have questions.

$199 per side for rears, $245 for front and $55 per bumperette.

I will be sending mine out next week.

Paul's Chrome and Librandi have excellent reputations too. Far longer turn around and basically double the price of Virginia Vettes.

I am not related just like to get the most for my money.

I used Sandy's Bumper Mart out of Syracuse, NY for all of my chrome and was very satisfied with them. I also have seen a lot of advertisement on Horsepower TV for Advanced Plating in Nashville, TN. Have had no experience with them, but you might want to check them out as well...

I've seen Librandi's work first hand and it is top notch.
