HI? i have a 82 corvette. when i got it, it came with a hood that was over the hood bay. it wasn't the hood of that car but it was a corvette hood. i took my car to the body shop. body shop guy worked on the car and painted the car. when it comes time to put the hood on, he did everything but the hood wouldn't align or fit correctly. there are space side to side and front. what could be the problem. is the hood the wrong hood for the year corvette or could it be something else. check pictures via photo bucket.
yeah i told him that and he told me when he looked at it he thought it was just an alignment issue but when he went to put in the finish painted hood with all alignment still can't get the hood to be right
sorry i did not write that. the body shop added the scoop. the hood was oem. but i like the scoop so i bought the scoop and he added it.
The scoop still looks like it was added to a non-'82 hood. '82 hoods have a "bulge" that starts low on the hood... looking at your pictures under the added-on scoop, it doesn't look like an '82 hood to me, scoop or no scoop. I'll have to put some pictures together and look closer.
Still, a professional painter puts the hood on and tests for fit before he starts painting; that's on him. The lower edges of the fit is such a wide gap, I don't know if it's adjustable. Again, not sure if it's the hood or problems with the body. Some better pictures might help.
What you have there does not appear to be an 82 hood. You can see the "bulge" that vettebuyer is talking about. Look to see if the under side of the hood has the air induction port for the crossfire air cleaner to mate up.

Based on your previous posts, you had a 78 SA hood on your car when you purchased the car. You also had some areas needing body work and hood alignment problems way back then. Which hood is on the car now? The 78?

In one of the before painting photos, the hood on the car has a hand written 75 Vette marking on it. Is this the same hood on the car now? In that same photo the passenger side fender looks like it was replaced, or had a lot of work done to it. The gap in this photo is very tight. Yet in the painted car that same area looks like has room. Is this the same hood as the pre painted car.
If the problem is with the fitment of the hood, and this is an original OEM hood, then maybe the alignment problem is with the replacement panels themselves, and not the hood.

Before the top of the hood looks like this hood but it doesn't have induction port. body shop had to cut out the center of the hood and added the l88 scoop.

yes it is the same hood that was on it but now it modified by adding the l88 hood scoop. body shop cut out the center portion of the hood for them to be able to add or mold in the l88 scoop
