I've working here and there for a couple months to install/create some new floor pans on my 76. I ordered some carpet from Wilcox a while back and laid it on the pans for the first time. They seem molded very well except for where the seatbelt "roll/mechanism/thinga-ma-jig" anchors into the bottom of the pan -- as in the carpet just seems flat over that area and any attempt to push it down leads to the carpet bunching in other areas.
Am I suppose to cut out this area? Is there a cover that goes over that seatbelt mechanism at the bottom? Truth be told, I don't remember taking one off I've stripped almost my entire interior, so I don't really remember if there was one there that will cover that area.
I am right now, today trying to get carpet in my 75. I have ACC from Wilcox and is nice, but no instructions so be extra careful with the trimming. Any way, it looks like you will need these covers to go over the seat belt retracters after you cut the carpet.
Dave
Thanks for the reply. I don't remember taking those off, and I have looked around my parts collection and I don't see anything like that. I'd love to see a pic of how those looks with it on there so I know how much I need to cut, etc.
Will there be any problems with me mounting the seat/seatbelt, etc, and THEN getting some of those to put over it?
I don,t see any reason why you can't mount the seat belts and put the covers on later. This may give you a better idea of how they fit. Cut as little as possible. Dave
I think the seat track goes on top of this cover and the track bolt goes in the large hole at the rear. These were not installed in the car when I got it, so that just looks like the way it should go. Good luck. Dave
You can make slits in the carpet so you can push it in the pocket. All in all with that cover and the seats you don't see it anyway even if you cut it completely away. Make sure there's no carpet where the belt runs under the metal loop, see Mike's aim picture, call out W, or the belt could retract slowely or not at all
