Default what headers are yall using?

I purchased the 2" magnaflow pipes and mufflers from corvette central and installed them on my 79. Now I think I want to go with headers and I'm not sure which set will work with the pipes I have on the car. So I would like to know what you guys have used. Thanks!

A good question. I'm searching too. Has anyone used Stan's tri Y headers? http://www.stans-headers.com/headers.htm

None of the headers will be a direct bolt on (I dont think), unless you get the Patriots from CC if thats where you got your pipes. Other than that, with a little bit of cutting/welding you just need to worry about the reducer. Most headers will be 3" at the end so you need a 3 to 2 reducer.

I got the ceramic Headman long tubes, will be pairing it up with 2.5" Pypes system

i believe i have the same headers as rafalc and they have a transition piece that allows for some pivioting, which may help some.unlike the flange connection however these will not allow a but connection as the exhaust system must be moved to the rear to make that ball and socket style connection.

btw i do not recommend the ss flex connector as it will introduce some unwanted resonance.(it's one of those temp things that go on forever).

I have the bargain summit headers which I wrapped. Fit surprisingly well. Only troubles was the #4 plug. Went to header plugs. How do you like the sound of your exhaust with the magnaflo's?

I have the summit brand headers that i stripped and painted with VHT paint. They won;t bolt right up to the CC exhaust though. I have to use those flex pipes that Billcarson used then drove down to the exhaust shop to have then properly connect the headers with new pipes.

If you have 2" pipes/mufflers on the car, why are you even spending the money (and trouble) of changing to headers? There will be NO improvement in exhaust flow.

I actually lied earlier, I have 2 1/2" pipes. Will the headers help?

I am using Dynomax ceramic headers on my '76 383 with TF 23* angle plug heads. No clearance problems and regular plug lengths, FR3LS, are accessible without a problem.

I have had these headers for about 9 years, but I don't believe they are still manufactured, unless they are sold under a different name.

Any headers you use, you will be ahead of the game by using Stage 8 locking bolts. I have had no exhaust leaks over the years, when using FelPro gaskets. Installed correctly, there will be no maintenance, i.e. re-tightening.

I have hookers, they came on my car, but way back in the day they made good headers and the ones on my car seem to be very good also.
