Default Head/Leg room

I'm 5'11"

Am I the only one that has plenty of headroom and needs to scoot the seat forward to keep the clutch pushed in all the way?

Just seems like most complain about corvettes being poor when it comes to leg/head room. Just curious if that's everyone or if I'm not the only one that fits with room to spare?

Yeah. My '96 was WAY easier to get into than my '69. The non-tilt wheel being the leading cause...

I guess I just have to get used to the idea of sliding the seat more forward.. Or modify the clutch to disengage further out...

I'm 6'2" and plan on doing away with the seat sliders and bolting the seats directly to the floor. I'm also hoping to adjust the pedals lower to get as much room as possilbe.

I know you have a hydraulic clutch linkage. How does your pedal height/travel compare to stock?

I only drove the stock Z bar linkage clutch a few dozen miles and that was well over a year ago BUT I feel like the travel on the hydraulic clutch is much less and in order for it to contact the floor it's pretty far up there... Might not be a bad move for someone that needs more room.

I don't care for the hydraulic clutch so far but I haven't driven it even a mile yet... Don't think it's bleed right or getting enough throw to disengage completely just yet...

Ever since I restored the seats in my 75 my head hits the roof panels. The guy that covered my seats told me the replacement foam is taller than the original. (a little late now). I bought a set of Moon Roof glass tops and have head room again.

I used a vacuum bleeder on mine. You actually pull a vaccum on the resevoir and pump the pedal to pull the air UP through the system. I saw a thread on the c5 forum where the poster used a rubber sink stopper with a brake bleeder poked through the center of it to seal the top of the resvoir and attach it to a vacuum pump.

And remember to pump the pedal slowly when bleeding. Doing too fast can aerate the fluid and make it hard to bleed.

Yeah. I used my mighty vac to bleed mine. Seemed to work great but I still feel like something isn't quite what it needs to be.

Not sure I pumped the pedal all that much when bleeding so maybe i'll try that.

I think it's either an air bubble stuck in the top of the trans like i've read about. Or the clutch isn't getting fully depressed...even though I adjusted it just right to make sure it contacts the switch.

Always found I needed the seat all the way back stick or auto but I am 6'2"and have long legs and I miss my tilt tele 75 4spd.Really should have looked for the tele in the 74...its really hard to get my legs in.I cant actually get my knees under the column without sliding my right leg knee first towards the passenger side.

Must be a lot of room in your vette, what year is it? I'm 5' 7" and I need the seat right back else I feel like I'm in a hobbit car, I have about the width of my hand between the top of my head and the roof panel. I was looking at a 74 coupe that belonged to a guy who was 6' 2", he had given up driving it because it felt too cramped so his wife drove it mostly (no great penalty for him though, he had a small fleet of musclecars in his garages). I noticed that the drivers seat had collapsed somewhat in his car but even that didn't help much!
I always wondered how tall the designer of the C3 was:-)

I always wondered how tall the designer of the C3 was:
About the same as the designer of the C1-C4
Too short!

Had a heck of a time fitting in the 73 had to roll the windows down, knee and L elbow were constantly squashed and would bang my head on the side. Frustrating...such a cool looking machine but felt like I was driving a peddle car.

i know a few people who have no problems with head or leg room.........they have more of a problem with belly room.
a buddy of mine drives mine from time to time, he is about 6'1" and 215-220 and he doesn't have any problems with head or leg room.

I'm 5'10''. Had the seat all the way back with the slushbox. After the 5-speed install I have the seat forward 1 click.

Well, I'm surprised to hear you say that. I'm also 5'11". Even though I have the glass t-roofs with greater clearance my head hits the roof when I go over speed bumps too quickly, I have maybe 1-2 inches of clearance. When I'm the first one at an intersection I have to crouch down and lean forward to see the traffic light otherwise the top of the windshield frame blocks my view of it.

I've heard men on this forum say they are 6' 2" or even taller and they fit with no problem but as far as I can tell the C3 was built with a driver in mind that is 5' 9" or shorter.

The PO of my car quit driving it in the mid '80s. His son told me that he grew too big for the car. His height was never mentioned and from looking at the smashed console...weight was the problem. From what I can tell, we actually become shorter with age. My guess is that more C3 drivers, who are 6 feet or taller, are having trouble with their waist lines and the steering wheel...rather than with the space above their heads.

At 6'2" - 205, I have a little bit of a tough time initially getting my leg around the non-tilt column and wheel, but with the seat all the way back the pedals are fine, leg room is adequate, and head room under original T's is a little tight... But then again, my seats are pretty flat, too.

Oh and I have no a$$... Been chewed out at work too many times.

Overall the car is broken-in snug... fits like a pair of old shoes.

6' 4" and 230 lbs. This was my single biggest dissapointment after a frame off restoration. I don't fit. New seat foam makes my head hit the standard T tops. Tilt Tele certainly helps but like others above, I have to crouch, or slide down until my knees hit the dash to drive it with the T tops in. With the tops out I can see fine over the top of the visors. LOL. I must look pretty stupid. Don't care. I still love her!

5' 11' and 200 lbs, fit nicely in my 76 but from time to time I do get excited. Alittle adjustment using the tilt/telly option and I have all the 'head' room I need.
