This is also kind of a venting thread, kind of need a sounding board.
Dad and I are running a small printing business here in Joplin (you all know where this is going already) and by small I mean 5 employees and dad and me. Things have taken a hard hit in the recent years, and they aren't looking much better, we finally, after holding off for too long honestly, had to let one of the guys go bring out total to 4 plus us two. Anyway, dad and I had a little pow-wow just a few minutes ago and he wanted me to find out how much his 72 is worth to help the business. I know that car means the world to him and I know he doesn't want to. I'm trying to convince mom to cancel our vacation (mom and dad were going to take the 4 of us (the wife and I, and my sister and her husband) and mom and dad to Jamaica this summer) so he wouldn't have to sell the car. Kinda seems silly to me to sell a car for a vacation because basically that's whats going on.
Anyway, its a 72, L48 coupe, orange, in pretty much museum condition. Its got all the bells and whistles inside, auto trans, air con, the works, and only has 62-ish thousand miles (dad is the 2nd owner since about 73). If you need any more info just ask it.
Safe to assume the engine numbers match and the condition, including rust, is as good as the pictures suggest? The colors are as on the trim tag?
Having the car that long, does your Dad have any related paperwork?
Looks like a nice car. Your Dad needs to understand that it could be difficult to replace it with a comparable car for what it might sell for. Hope he gets to keep it.

It is numbers matching, it has new paint (as of maybe 2000, same color though). He hasn't done anything to it as far as modifications except putting flow masters on it.
So you're going to let him sell it to fund your vacation?
My mom and I are trying everything we can to not let this happen. In fact I don't think it will, mom told dad that she canceled the vacation, so I think he will end up holding on to it.

Good call , Selling that beautiful car to go to Jamaica ain't worth it in my book.
Best of luck with the business , it's a real Bi#$h out there right now.
vacations are a luxury that one should use after you save the money to do it. do not sacrifice food on the table for vacations.
corvettes are a want and not a need. if you have to fund a need, then sell the want.
that corvette is an asset that contributes to a total net worth.. the vacation is not an asset that contributes to a total net worth. don't sell one to fund the other..
if you must vacation, then find a cheaper vacation that does not drag the family's future down.
Jamaica? in my opinion there are a thousand places I would rather go...
