Pontiac used blue long before it came to Chevrolet.

GM switched to blue as the result of a lawsuit. Someone bought a new car from a different GM division and found it had a Chevrolet engine in it. He sued. He won. GM initiated the corporate blue and added a disclamer that new GM cars could have engines built by other GM divisions.

I would be interested to hear more about the lawsuit. Sounds like a good story. Do you know what brand the guy bought?

I can never remember whether it was a Buick or an Oldsmobile.

I can't recall offhand where I read that account; possibly Corvette News. Google it and you might kick up something. If memory serves, it became a class action lawsuit.

The law suit started when a guy bought a Olds Delta 88 and it had a Chevy engine in it. He expected it to have an Olds motor and sued GM.

I think the guy bought an Oldsmobile. Oldsmobile made a big deal about having a "Rocket" engine which was supposed to be a better engine so when it came to light that they didn't have the Rocket engine some owners sued. At least that is how my father (who was a big Oldsmobile fan and owner) told it to me.
