I have searched here until I'm out of options, called Wilcox, and tried at my local GM dealer to no avail. Does anyone know what the dark brown paint for an 82 CE on the bezel and shifter column is? I heard that there was a discussion here years ago but i can't find it.
I snatched this out of a post. Not sure it might still be helpful:
1982 Collector Edition paint codes
Welcome, your DUPONT paint codes are, exteriorD8259G
Interior,D8259J,
Taillight D8262J,
interior brown D8262J
taillight is a single stage flex add for front and rear caps
Dupont 2322S interior brown use add305S med gloss.
I would contact a SEM automotive interior dye dealer and check to see whether SEM lists the appropriate dark brown.
Thanks Mike, as i said i looked but couldn't find it. I had sent you a PM the other day but it must not have gone thru, since i have been working in the paint since i bought my car i need to change the oil but am not sure what i need to use. Not being a mechanic and having read all the discussion on oil here i am somewhat confused. Would you give me a simple answer of brand and viscosity to use in an 82 with 70,000 miles? thanks, Charles
In Georgia, use a 10W30 oil and a WIX or NAPA Gold filter. As far as which oil? I'd suggest any good brand name of 5 quart jug you buy at Wal-Mart....less expensive and the same stuff as anywhere else.
P.S. You will get all kinds of recommendations for 'special' oil or additives because of the "flat-tappet" lifters in your engine. Your [stock] 1982 engine doesn't need anything 'special'....just a good quality oil. And change it about every 3000-4000 miles.
