Default Plastic bumper years Now I know why

For a long time I have liked only 80 to 82 c-3 and could never put in words why.. It seamed like I just could not put my finger on what draws me to these few years. Ill also add c-4 and c-5 also do nothing for me and only the c-6 and chrome bumper vettes even get a second look. (C-5 front end reminds me of a shoe horn lmao )

Any way back to my point, I have been knee deep modding and changing my 80 and after looking at so many posts on here from all of you c-3 owners it finally hit me why the earlier c-3, 74 to 79 never appealed to me.

The difference is in how the 80 to 82 finally made the nose of the cars look as if it all grew from one idea and not like it was forced upon the car by a government mandate as we all know was the reason for the removal of the bumpers.

Just a thought I figured I would post , with winters off I have time to think !! Gotta love owning a seasonal business

i agree with the look of the 80-82,they look "complete" the 74-79 look like a really good idea that was never finished.

74 looks real nice but what a shame that front clip bends under the front end

Personally I think the 80-82 looks like a 73-79 that is sticking its tongue out. The overhangs are ridiculous for a sports car and to achieve that length, the fender sweep is complexly out of proportion to the rest of the car – it’s like a caricature of the early C3s (and with no power to boot). I find the 78-79 the most pleasing of the post chrome bumper cars – they seem like a much more integrated design. Keep in mind I have no ax to grind as per the specifics of C3s as I own both a C2 (67 435HP coupe) and C4 (95 ZR-1). JMHO.

Now boys, play nice. But I will add nothing beats the look of chrome bumpers at each end.

it is all good , plus it allows points to be made we all can enjoy ,, One big one is the lack of power in a 1980 ,, god what a mess... Nothing a cloned ZZ430 and 700R4 with a 3.55 did not correct

I had an 80, But never really loved it. Seats were uncomfortable and the wings! I have a 77. Love it. Looks more aggressive with out the front valence. The rear I like because it brings me back to the 70's. My buddy is even thinking about taking his 82 seats out and putting a pair of 77 seats in his. He is one of you guys that like the 80-82 styles. I guess to each his own. Heck we have about 10 years to choose from.

I have a 68 convertible. I had a 74 coupe. I have an 80 L-82, so I've had one of each.

I have had a 61, 73, 77, 94 and a 99. I now have my favorite style, the 80 to 82. It is just finished looking.
