Default brake pedal install

Installing reconditioned brake / clutch pedal assembly along with new firewall insulation, original style insulation with heavy rubber facing. My old stuff disentegrated when we tore dash down. Is it correct for insulation to bolt between pedal brackett and firewall, seems like there was some that way at a/c heater housing assembly.

Insulation doesn't "bolt" anywhere. The factory stuff sometimes uses glue and push pins.

Do you have the assembly instruction manual (AIM)? The AIM shows the factory installation of the original dash insulation. It also shows where sections of the insulation have to be removed for factory AC cars.

Hi 73s,
I believe the rubber coated insulation blanket was installed in place before anything was mounted to the interior side of the firewall.
Regards,
Alan

guess i was'nt clear, insulation in first secured with rubber plugs, "according to AIM", would it be correct for insulation to come between firewall and some components bolted to firewall, brake pedal brackett, etc.. I lost photos of this part of disassembly in a computer crash, could'nt recover.
