Hey, guys, I recently bought my first Vette and with the help of my dad I'm trying to restore it. We're nearly finished with the engine bay and all the performance aspects so now we're beginning the aesthetics. The body is in near perfect shape, just the one issue is the hood. Whatever happened to the hood...well let's just say it's not in good shape. My dad was thinking that it may be more cost effective and time saving to just replace the hood, and I told him I'd research it. I've looked for quite a while (sorry if I didn't look in the right places) and I'm only seeing stock hoods, not the LT1. Do you guys have any advice on where to look as to purchasing a LT1 hood? Or would you recommend just trying to work with what we got? Thanks in advance.
I bought 1 from Ecklers. Quality is good, fit on my 72 was very good. I looked around at swap meets, corvette shows, and Internet used corvette parts forums and wrecking yards for quite awhile. If I found an original, the price was real high. A few used ones i found had damage and were still priced high. Finally I just bought the Ecklers hood.
Hi jb,
I'd like to see the car you and your dad are working on!!!!!
You used the phrases "cost effective" and "time saving"...... I've NEVER seen a Corvette that THOSE words could be used with!!!!!!!
Sorry, just a little joke for today!
Good luck with your hood.
Regards,
Alan
