I have had my 1971 for about 2 years now and I am still having it insured at the purchased price. I am wondering who or how to find appraisers in my area, lake shore of west Michigan.

Don't waste money on an opinion of value for the insurance company. If you have agreed value collector car insurance, just tell them how much YOU think it is now worth...within reason. Don't worry, they will adjust the premium accordingly. I've been doing that every renewal for the last 8 years. My car is probably worth about the amount of hard money that I have into it. If the car is stolen or destroyed, that is the amount of money that would make me feel "whole" again.

Hi Jay,
I agree with Dennis.
Many companies don't require anything at lower 'agreed value' amounts. And even as the $$$ amount some companies just ask for pictures of the car.
That's the way J.C.Taylor operates for example.
So check with your insurer for their requirements at the amount you're going to insure for.

Alan
Jay, I agree that depending on the insurer, you can insure it for what you are comfortable with- you can surf a lot of for sale sites for similar cars to gauge replacement costs. If you do need an appraisal, try Ike Sarver in Jenison. He knows Corvettes pretty well and I always thought he was reasonable on cost. I'll PM you his info.

No need for an appraisal, unless you are way out of the ballpark on the value. Give us a call, I am sure we can work an Agreed Value policy out..
