Does anybody have a link to the video taped interview with the couple that revealed this car that the link talks about?
I'd really like to watch it. Perhaps my search skills on this subject leave something to be desired.
If this story is true, the guy must have had a miserable life. It's a shame that some one had a car like this, or any specialty car, and never did enjoy it.
I wish I could have saw it! He was close enough to be in the neighborhood. But not close enough for him to be my neighbor.
It would've been so cool to meet him and talk Corvettes with him. Actually, he could do all the talking, I'd be happy just to listen.
But the whole story is covered pretty well in the link except for why the change of the valve covers and decals on the air cleaner.
The funny thing is, I never heard about this story on the forum. I heard about it talking to a guy at work then searched for the story on the internet. The first thing I wanted to do was post the link on the forum. But first I searched to see if it had already been posted.
All I found was one thread in the C2 section that went about 6 posts or so then died. They seemed real hung up on the air cleaner and valve cover issue which I knew would been the focus of the discussion so I though, "Eh, I'll just let it go".
Same thing, I heard about this from one the guys I work with. Never saw it on the forum. And because it was a C2, I opted not to post a link here. I figured the C2 guys would have beat it to death.
Truly a beautiful car and I think it probably has a story even stranger than the one listed.
For a car that is so unused that no-one has sat in the passenger seat it seems weird the engine had the modification it did. Why change out the valve covers and put on stickers if you were just going to cover it up with blankets? As we say in Maine that is wicked strange.
Thanks for sharing.
Those certainly don't look like any tires that were OE on '67 Corvettes either.....
Very weird story! He must have been a strange guy. And a marine, too. Gee, maybe he was the infamous D.B.Cooper who hijacked a jet and parachuted into oblivion. Hmm.. something to think about.

yes, the story stated that he changed the original blackwall tires for some double white striped tires with a blue accent to complete his Red, White and Blue theme.

I must have missed that.....the picture of the spare tire looks like that one was swapped out too...
