That is one of the coolest, saddest, most unusual things I've ever read or even heard of. The pictures are amazing from the condition of that car to its interior to its undercarriage... to the Olympic jacket to the ray bans in the glove box.
This might be the only case where I think a car shouldn't be driven ... This one needs to be seen by as many people who have an interest in it as possible. What a story. What a car.

Sad is right....I would have driven the hell out of that car...and even eaten a steak and cheese sub on the hood at the beach, tossed a surfboard on the passenger seat and cruise down to Hatteras, got to he dragway, go to Irish pubs in Boston and take it to Maine on the weekends....cruise around with wild women in it too!
yep that and the offenhauser valve covers.... weird to think that a guy who was freakin out about turning the odometer over 3000 miles would change those out like that....
still a sweet car that is a shame it's not been driven.
Truly a beautiful car and I think it probably has a story even stranger than the one listed.
For a car that is so unused that no-one has sat in the passenger seat it seems weird the engine had the modification it did. Why change out the valve covers and put on stickers if you were just going to cover it up with blankets? As we say in Maine that is wicked strange.
To those above, yes this post has been exhausted across the numerous sections.
But, that is pretty cool that you lived so close. Did you ever see it? Do you know the house?
I wish I could have saw it! He was close enough to be in the neighborhood. But not close enough for him to be my neighbor.
It would've been so cool to meet him and talk Corvettes with him. Actually, he could do all the talking, I'd be happy just to listen.
But the whole story is covered pretty well in the link except for why the change of the valve covers and decals on the air cleaner.
The funny thing is, I never heard about this story on the forum. I heard about it talking to a guy at work then searched for the story on the internet. The first thing I wanted to do was post the link on the forum. But first I searched to see if it had already been posted.
All I found was one thread in the C2 section that went about 6 posts or so then died. They seemed real hung up on the air cleaner and valve cover issue which I knew would been the focus of the discussion so I though, "Eh, I'll just let it go".
