Default new guy with a 1977 Corvette

Hi all,

I am the new guy.

I bought a 1977 Corvette not long ago that is in almost pristine condition. It is all original with 43,260 miles on it when I picked it up. Still has the original engine paint and under the hood very clean. It has been repainted once and undercoated. Newer Exhaust System and the interior is all original and in great shape.

I put the car on the lift last weekend to really inspect it than found a few minor issues I am working on fixing. New Exhaust System was dual and they did not put a heat shield under the driver's side CAT. Parts are on order to fix this. They ran the exhaust system on the driver's side too close to the shift linkage rubber on the cable. Heat shield has been ordered to protect it. The exhaust tips are only 1/4 of of an inch than have caused the rubber bumper some burn marks so I will lower them so I have more clearence.

I will be fixing the little problems I have found but are a few Pictures of my new toy.

Thanks Guys, I am the 4th owner of this beautiful piece of American classic Corvettes

Instead of starting a new thread I do have some questions on the Tranny. It feels like a Shift kit was installed so I will explain my first driving experience in this car.

It will tap second gear with a slight jolt under light throttle from first to second then smooth into third.

When I kicked in the 4 barrel carb and pounded on it than shifted hard from first to second and again second to third. There is no slippage

Does this sound like a shift kit or tranny problems.

I had a shift kit in one of My 1976 Chevelles about 18 years ago after a tranny rebuild and it felt about the same way but it has been about 18 years since I felt this so wondering if it could be a shift kit.

Is this normal?

Thanks

Beautiful car

My first Vette was a '77.....sure miss that car !

Looking forward to seeing more of yours !

FWIW - that is the tell-tale signs of a moderate shift kit....nice !

welcome, nice ride

trans shift sounds normal for a mild shift kit

if you have no good record of when the last time the fluid was changed
I would look into that.

nice ride

Great looking 'Vette! Love the white/red combo (like many of us). The blood red interiors GM put into these things, will sure wake you up!

That sounds about right for a shift kit. My 77 has one installed and it chirps the tires from 1st to 2nd shift and third is solid, this is when getting on it. Part throttle shifts can be made softer by adjusting the vacuum modulator on the side of the trannie.

Welcome to the forums and congrats on your recent purchase. Looks like a very clean car and a early '77 as well.

Have fun and enjoy! Look forward to more photos.
