I have a 1970 Corvette, but it's had the 1970 hood and wiper door taken off and replaced with a 1973 high-rise hood. The previous owner did that because he wanted to eliminate the vacuum system for the wiper doors. I actually like the looks of the car with the 1973 hood, but I don't like the way the wiper arm compartment looks now that it's exposed. I put a 1973 aftermarket wiper arm cover over the area, but the cut-outs on the bottom left and right sides of the windshield glass still show.
Here's my question ... Does a 1973 windshield have these same cut-out areas or does it just go straight across? If so, will the 1973 windshield glass fit on my 1970? If it will, I would like to swap out the glass so it looks better. I look forward to your expert advice and information ...
Interesting ... It does have a slight cut-out on the bottom right and left, but it's much more of a gentle slope than my 1970 windshield. The cut-out areas on mine are very pronounced. I'm not good at posting photos, but maybe someone out there could post a similar photo of a 1970 style windshield to show the difference.
I think this might work OK with the 1973 aftermarket wiper arm cover. What experience have others had with this?
Hi,
Here's a picture of the 'swoop' on the earlier, (wiper door), windshield.
It appears to be more pronounced, and begins a few inches nearer the center of the windshield.
Regards,
Alan
Yes, that's the way my 1970 windshield looks along the bottom edge. Based on these photos, I think the 1973 windshield will work, once I install a new aftermarket wiper arm cover that's painted to match my body color. Thanks!
