Default Your C3 and Vandalism...

I'm just curious how many of you have had vandalism issues with your cars. I took my mom out for brunch this morning and had someone spit all over my passenger door. As always, I was parked normally and did nothing to provoke this. This gave me a "pit" in my stomach the rest of the afternoon and I was pissed... My dad, who owned my car before me and drove it in the 70s and 80s, said he installed a retracting radio antennae because he got tired of people breaking off the original one.

I just don't get how there is a complete lack of respect for other people's property. I was raised to admire nice things and respect the property of others. I knew that if I worked hard enough, that someday I might have nice things as well. I would never in a million years spit on or damage someone else's car. Perhaps this is the same, prevalent mentality in today's society that motivates the "occupy Walstreet" crowd? There appears to be a growing hatred among society toward anyone who owns nice things, has a few bucks, etc.

Sorry,... I guess at this point I'm just emoting. I'll get off my soap box.

Anyway, I have so many hours and a considerable amount of money invested in restoring my car. And because it was my dad's, I also have a lot of sentimental value toward this vehicle. If I ever caught someone trashing it, or spitting on it, it would be all that I could do not to kick their teeth in.

Eventually, I'd like to also paint my car. However, I'm curious of how long before someone would key-it, etc. I guess anytime I go anywhere I better always get the window seat so I can keep an eye on things. Then, I guess I'll be headed straight to jail when I catch the vandal in the act. Just sucks...

I always park way................out in the parking lot. If I know that's not possible, I drive the truck. It worked so far.

I got cussed twice last week and chased down the street and all I did was drive down the street in the vette!
People hate vettes and some people are so poor they think a rubber bumper vette is a sign of money!

Cussed and chased down the street just for driving a vette? Time to move or get an attitude adjustment.

I had a brand new BMW and went to Target. I parked in a lot on the side of the building where I was the only car. When I got out of my car to go into the store, I collected each and every shopping cart (I think it was 7) that had been left in the lot, hooked them all together and took them into the store with me. When I came out 10 minutes later, there was a shopping cart up against the rear of my car.

I like the John Travolta quote in the movie Pulp Fiction (paraphrasing, been a while since I've seen the movie)
'it would be worth him doing it if you could just catch him in the act'

The exact reason why I don't have a luxury car. My DD is a Wrangler Unlimited and my wife has a Cadilac SRX. I park them far away from store entrances and jerks just love to step on the pride I have in my cars. That's why I never take and park my 68 or 73 where the general public has easy access. Insurance is ice to have, but the aggravation isn't worth the risk.

Maybe not recently, but was a common problem, for late model C3's with mirror t-tops, to get broken into, as these were $1200 bucks in themselves. Those were real target cars, but seems like any clean car, gets similar treatment. Recently I had my newer daily car parked in a work lot, and came im and found the front end wasted. Don't think it was intentional, but I wasn't happy. While insurance covered it, still ate several $100's in rental car costs.

If memory serves, cigarettes are no longer manufactured in Kentucky. Tobacco is still grown throughout the state, but much less of it these days than in the past.

Never had anyone do anything to my car up here in Canada. Previous owner twice removed had the beauty rings stolen , but he used to leave the car outside all the time / no garage / 25 yrs ago.

Its just too bloody cold up here for anyone to p@ss around with another mans car You drive to the local Walmart and RUN from the car to the store before you bloody freeze to death. No time for keying or spitting or whatever ! Move to Canada. Its safer.

Welfare people buy it in bulk and roll their own around here and it comes from Kentucky.
