Default Rear Window Tray

I do not have a tray at all in my 1970. Where do I go about getting one?
Can I just make one?
Am I really missing out by not removing my back window?

I`ve seen them here in the C3 "Parts for sale" section, and on ebay. I`m still building our 71, and have yet to drive it, but I would say the back window will be out most of the time!

I do not have a tray in the back of my corvette either, but the pop out window fits just fine on the rear wheel wells carpeted of course. My t-top bags got ripped to shreds, so I just use soft towels and put them in the back without issue as well. The towels are big enough to wrap around the entire t-top.

Hi N1,
Yes, you're really missing out if you're not driving with the widow out.
The first time you drive in traffic with it out, you'll be sure the car behind you is going to hit you in the back of the head.
It really changes how sound reaches you.
I like it out even with the roof panels on.
Regards,
Alan

The storage tray sits up VERY close to the under side of the rear deck.... any chance it's there and you don't realize it?

The window out thing is something I'm looking forward to experiencing for the first time since my 75 conversion in a week when the breaks are done and she's back on the road, but everyone on here swears by it.

As for the tray... This is gonna sound funny, but my mother actually made me and my buddy Hooah on here a storage bag. Black vinyl, padded interior, complete with a corvette patch yet to be sown on but they turned out great. It should fit nicely right above the T-tops stored in back or pulled from the car on a perfect day. What I'm saying is you might not need the tray at all.

Are the hinges and latch still there? There should be a pair of brackets on the back wall just under the deck. A bolt with a shoulder screws into each bracket, the door pivots on them.

Good luck with the installation. Tough area to reach.

Thnaks for the replies.

I looked and the tray is not there. Looks like there are the pair of brackets on the rear wall, but it was dark and hard to tell if the front one was there. Need to look at my the next Vette meeting I go to and compare to mine.

I drove w/o the window for the first time yesterday and OMG!!! It is awesome!!! I am disappointed w/ myeslf for not doing that before.

In other rear window news...My rear window was shot out by a bb so have to replace the glass. I thought I ordered a complete replacement unit from Zip. Was not happy when only the glass arrived as it was more than I would have paid at Ecklers. Good news and bad news.
Good – I called and they matched the price I would have paid Ecklers for just the glass. Getting $110 back. (I have nothing but good things to say about their customer service.
)
Bad – I have to assemble it myself.
Good – I have to assemble it myself and that is a new thing I have never done. Now I just need to search for the link of how to do that.

There are two small pins , one on each side, at the bottom of the square corners that have to be carefully punched out. Be careful, you can buy new glass, but not a new frame. Paragon will replace the glass for you, if it is too hard of a job. Lou.

Funny, I was going to post this very thing... I am in the same situation with our 70. Where do these racks go?

Up under the rear deck. There should be two brackets for the hinge pins on the rear wall, up near the top.
