I participated at a local car show this week end, another 1972 LT1 was in the show. From what I can tell it seems all original under the hood, that's when I discovered why mine dumps in fuel after I shut down. the heat shield between the intake manifold and the carb is missing. Can I get some help locating a source for this part. I tried calling several vendors, they don't seem to have it. If someone have an old rusted one I'll take it, I can duplicate it. thank you.
Hi n2v,
My understanding is that only 1970 LT-! cars that were originally built to be sold in California had the heat shield.
Dr.Rebuild shows it in his catalogue. 3726123

Thank you Alan,
I called the Dr. I was told they are no longer available and my best bet is swap meet. so, does anyone have one of these heat shield or have the drawing for fabrication?
Hi n2v,
There are a couple of knowledgable 70 LT-! people here... perhaps they can help?
In the mean time google '70 LT-1 Heat Shield' and click on 'images'.
There are some good pictures... if I wanted a shield badly enough I think I could scale the shape and dimensions from some of the pictures!
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan
I believe the shield was on 70 California Z-28 cars also; so you might find some info on a repro by prowling their forums too.

Your the MAN Alan, I found one. Luckily enough it is made by Holley, the kit even comes with the gasket; P/N Holley 108-70 for those of you looking for it, got it from Summit.
