Default Interior underlayment

So I am about to replace my carpet and was just wondering if anyone had issues with putting down both Carpet Underlayment and a Carpet Heat Barrier. The last thing I want to do is not have enough room to lay the new carpet down.

Might be terminology, but they usually serve the same purpose. It's a toss up whether you need both.

I have installed the "Dynamat extreme" and the "Dynamat Extremeliner" under carpet sets and I have no problems with carpet fit. Sometimes you have to watch how thick of underlayment you allow to get under the carpet where your plastic kick plates contact the carpet when installed. This is where you might have to check the kick plate fit and possibly cut back the underlayment a little bit.

This is a good question.

What is the best heat barrier underlayment out there? Is there a consensus favorite???

No real consensus. "Best" would be defined by the one you like. Reflectix works well and is readily available at home supply outlets. It's probably as effective as the more expensive stuff. Since all C3s, for the most part, were a little short on underlayment, just about anything you use is an improvement over the factory.

with Easy Mike, as that is what I used in the 82, and have only done the front, haven't got around to doing the rear, and it makes a nice differeence with the heat, a real pleasure to drive even with the AC off on those types of days, where you just want to feel the outside air running across those few hairs that are left on the top of your head..... I always bring my hat......
