Default Adjusting how high headlight opens

1974 Coupe, I need to have the passenger side headlight go up about 1/8 of an inch so I can remover the headlight bezel to change a light. The lights open and close fine, just the passenger side is a little lower so I can't remove the bezel. I adjusted the little 'stop' screw on the outside arm a bit but did not seem to do it. From other posts it appears the small 3/16 or so screw in the center of the mechanism might control up or down motion, but does it affect the raising of the light higher? Thanks

I have the same problem with both of mine. The stop bolts don't even touch. the headlights go into the locked position and work fine. except for not opening all the way. maybe about 1/4 inch or so. I even moved the M brackets closer to the front of the car.

Actuator clevis might be adjusted wrong and the actuator is at the end of it's limits before the lamp goes over-center

Pull the two springs off the shaft and remove the cotterpin

Slide the pin out and that will disengage the actuator. Raise the lights manually and see where they go into lock. Back the up-stop off and make sure it's not in the way.

If they are OK, turn the clevis on the actuator shaft out, (lengthening the rod) Refer to Wilcox video, touch + 1/2 turn

All things being equal, many of the bolts under here may be fused in-place. If your happy with the lights in all other respects and just want to change the bulb.

Remove the springs and pull the pin that the two sets of springs both connect to

This separates the linkage and will allow you to lift the lights as high as the hinges will allow.
The pins are all bushed and shouldn't be as bad to remove as some of the bolts.

If you still want to get them to come all the way up.
The bracket that holds the main linkage to the framework (three bolts hold it on, one right under the actuator rod) will need to be slid, Mine where not going down fully and I had to slide the bracket forward, you may need to slide it backwards.
That moves the entire pivot point of the mechanism slightly and the over-center stop point up a fair amount.

You can see 2 of the bolts here, the third is hidden behind the accordion boot

Moving these shouldn't affect the headlight centering in the hole but make sure you check the gabs carefully before opening or closing so you don't chip anything.

You will also need to adjust the closed stop bolt (center 1/4" skinny bolt)
