Interior question
I have a '75 auto. Is there a light for the shift indicator on the console when the headlights are on?

Yeah there is, it's the lamp you see next to the yellow wire, it plugs in from the back, bulb facing towards the rear of the car

Headlights not necessarily required. Shifter illumination works with the interior lights.

Bulb holder was bad. Replaced it and it's good to go now

There was a shifter light bulb; but I don't think the shifter had any kind of indicator needle till '76 or later.

Correct. Shift by feel. Rather silly way to do things.
