just bought my 1st 1980 vette need to find my best bang for the buck ie' horsepower please help

You might do better having just one thread going about pepping up your 80! That way people will concentrate on replying to your thread in tech/perf.

Best bang for the buck is to tune your L-48, keep it stock, and drive it.
