It is kind of late to ask if it is was a good deal, so I would personally dismiss that and just enjoy that car. If it runs as good as it looks you will very happy.
I am modding the hell out of my car, but it is a 76 that had very little original about it. Your car is sweet as it is. One thing to consider though.. If you do need to replace the tires (check the date on them) and you like the looks of aftermarket wheels, it would be good to do it before you spend a ton on stock sized tires. That is one mod that you can easily change back later if you change your mind. Now go enjoy that beauty.
