My accerator, is really hard to push,I noticed that there are two return springs.. Is there supposed to be two or would it be ok to take one off ?? Thanks
Hi 78,
Have you tried pushing the accelerator with one spring and both springs off?
There might be another reason it's hard to depress beside the springs.
Regards,
Alan
I bought my '73 out in Arizona and by the time I got it back to Texas, my right leg was wore plumb out. The previous owner liked a stiff throttle and had installed two very stiff springs. I found correct springs locally and after installation the difference was like night and day.
Besides what's already been suggested to check, take a good look at the carpet under the accelerator pedal to make sure it's not somehow restricting movement.
It pushes real easy with no spring at all, it is about right with only one spring... I think I will leave it like that until I order some new ones.. Thanks for all of the replies...
