I believe if you look back through the thread you had about your tank sheet you'll see a post by Rowdy Rat (post #14) in which he gives his thoughts about what the Special Paint might be in this case.

I mentioned in your other post that what is being called out is not a "special paint" color, but "special paint" attention during the paint process. Publicity purposes... GM brass... Owner with connections... Tough to say at this point why it was done. Your car has darn near every option for an L-68... Everything but side exhaust (and depending when it was built, it might not have been available). I could see it being a PR or "brass hat" car.
"Special paint" color would have been a different code for PAINT on the trim tag.
I also mentioned that your car was sent to Daniels Motors out in Colorado... That might be a good place to start your research. Perhaps they are still in business.
