Unfortunately, I don't have a secure garage to park my C3 in, only a carport. I live in the country with very good neighbors that at least 2 of them are home all the time. I'm looking for Non Garaged insurance. I have it insured now, but feel I'm paying too much. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks, Mike.
can't you get one of those prefab steel garages? You'll probably make much of the money back in lower insurance rates!
YES! We just had a single car garage put up at our place in the mountains for about $3200, including the slab!
At "Non-Collector" rates for a Vette, you should get that back in a couple years!
Sorry, no collector's insurance will take you without a garage. You're stuck with regular insurance and higher rates.
Not exactly true. I only have a Carport and I have collector insurance. However I do have an 8 ft tall sliding gate at the end of the carport to keep it "enclosed".
Talk to Adam Boca @ NCM.

Interesting. Adam has posted in the past that only an actual garage qualifies.
Call State Farm and get a quote on their collector car insurance. They do not appear to have a garaging requirement, and to a significant extent, it is still agreed value insurance per their policy rider. However, they do have an exception (to summarize) that if you allow the vehicle to deteriorate from the condition in which it was originally insured and valued, they can pay less. The way I read it, it is not simple "stated value" where you get the lesser of the actual value on the date of loss or the stated value.
They also infer in their literature that there are stringent restrictions on driving--clubs, shows, and the like only. While I have to read the entire contract in more detail, the collector car policy addendum strangely appears to have no mention of a use restriction. Rather, the addendum consists almost entirely of a conversion to a quasi-agreed value policy. Go figure. My guess is that it may be buried somewhere in the policy itself. I will update after I have a change to read it.
So far as I know, you will not find cheap collector car insurance other than State Farm without a garaging requirement. Hagerty requires it except in certain limited areas and circumstances. If you are in a snow area, it is mandatory, period. If you are in the sunbelt, call and ask about the conditions in which they will grant a waiver.
I would think that is less secure than a carport. All you need is a trailer hitch and bye bye car!
I agree but as long as he says it counts I went with it. This way I don't have to build a garage and I have my trailer so when I retire in 3 to 4 years I have means to haul me car back and forth between New Mexico and Maine every year.
I had 2 cars stacked outside in a carport with a fence down the side and a locked gate on the front insured by both Haggerty and NCM ins. neither had a problem.
